Letter to Jacinda Ardern.

Dear Prime Minister,
My name is Scott, I am 9 years old and I go to Waitohu Primary School.
When I started at school I was scared of being in the water and didn't like being in the pool at all. My Mum paid for me to have swimming lessons at school. After 4 weeks of lessons I feel much happier and safer in the pool and am having lots of fun playing in the water with my friends. Swimming lessons are expensive and some of my friends couldn't afford them. I think swimming lessons should be free to all kids because we should all be able to feel safe and happy in the water.
I hope that you have a happy christmas with your family.
Scott E.

  1. Kia Ora Scott,

What a brilliant letter. You make an excellent point, water safety is so important and a lot of people cannot afford it. New Zealand is surrounded by beautiful beaches and rivers so it’s really critical that everyone learns to swim. That way everyone can be safe and less scared. Some schools offer special swimming classes in the summer, but it would be very cool if Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern put it into the curriculum to ensure all kids learn.

I especially like how you have included your own experience and explained how swimming lessons helped you to show why they are so helpful. What a genius way to relate to your readers.

It would be really awesome if you could include pictures or colours into your post to really engage your readers. Perhaps you could look at these tips for making eye catching blog posts to help or grab some inspiration.

Think about how you signed off. Are you being cyber smart?

    Happy blogging!
